The game itself has crisp graphics, and its crammed to the brim with nostalgic imagery. But its wooden cast, awkward, text-heavy dialogue, and shallow, clunky combat brings the experience to a (near) screeching halt. I love the concept. I love the hand drawn, animated cartoon story sequences. And the soundtrack is pitch perfect. But the poor writing, tired combat, and shallow puzzles and platforming sections bored me to tears. If the game's script was trimmed down, I'd probably like it well enough, but as is, it's a fairly mediocre experience hiding behind the mask of childhood nostalgia.
