Curious Expedition

Good game with solid ideas

I bought this sometime ago and have enjoyed it throughout its development. It is an easy to learn rogue-like of explorers taking on a randomly generated land looking for a hidden or not-so-hiden golden pyramid. There are several explorers to choose from (3 initially but more get unlocked as you progress through the game). Now that the final version is out, I can definitely say I enjoyed this, still enjoying it and will be playing it in the future. Expect short gameplay sessions (up to an hour maybe) to be had here per character/game. It is fun and love crafted and I think it is worth the money.

Master of Orion 1+2

Cool but a bit dated

In my opinion, MOO1 is here as an added bonus, it is the second part that is worth your time. The game is still a fun romp, however, the dated graphics, low resolution and somewhat simple mechanics have diminished its value somewhat. I bought it, but mostly for nostalgia's sake - I would not recommend it new players although at this price point it would not be a disastrous purchase by any means.

Cannot sing its praises long enough...

This is the finest game to be based of Bioware's classic infinity engine which re-invigorated RPG's in the 90's. You follow the adventures of the nameless one; an immortal being roaming the planes periodically forgetting about his past lives and making the same or new mistakes each time around. The game is very story driven which means that you have to go through a lot of well written dialogue and exposition - there are even parts where you will scroll through dialogue for a minute or so but fear not - the game is so well written and superbly executed that chances are you won't notice. A first master-stroke design decision in the game is not having you determine your alignment before-hand but having it determined by your actions in game - if you act as a neutral evil character then your alignment will reflect this in time. The other spectacular design decision was to weave death into the narrative - your character cannot die (he is immortal right?) except in two or three cases which you should not run into on your first playthrough - you can play without constantly saving and reloading ala Baldur's gate. Overall this is truly a hidden gem, a glance at the reviews on this site will convince you of this, but moreover this is a true classic in every sense; it holds up today just as well as it did all these years ago. Buy it, you won't regret it!
