Owlboy stands not only as a platformer, but as art. The graphics and music are wonderful, and it's clear that it took a lot of effort to make. I found this game from a YouTuber who does a segment called Jimpressions, and he covered Owlboy, mentioning it was originally started all the way back in 2008. The creativity that went into worldbuilding is striking, and reminds me a bit of Sundered Skies, a tabletop game setting in a system called Savage Worlds, where the action takes place on a series of floating islands connected only by the trade routes of sky-faring galleons. Owlboy's setting is no imitation, however, as it features a plethora of custom-designed races, monsters, and locales. Gameplay is great, very Zelda-like, has puzzles, and the controls I think are pretty easy to pick up. The twist on the typical platformer genre is that the main hero, Otus, can fly, and can carry a series of gunners, which makes things far more interesting and varied than in a typical platformer.
