Fallout: London

What Bethesda SHOULD have done

I've played this extensively, I've used console commands to explore, played the game using all sorts of characters. This is one brilliant mod. First, the graphics. London isn't like the Commonwealth, where there's lots of open spaces. London is a sprawl, buildings everywhere, ruins, landmarks, and just the attention to detail makes it impressive enough to grab, just to see it. Second, the gameplay. This is a mod, but you'd be forgiven if you thought otherwise. While a lot of the game is familiar - animations, sounds, etc. the vast majority is a new experience. Just immersing youself in the different accents, the rhyming slang, even the radio stations pulls you out of the familiar. I'm an American living in the UK and this is like a breath of fresh air for me...how the British see the Fallout universe from their perspective. So don't expect to find pip-boys, vaults, vault-tec or even Pip Boy himself. The Brits have their own inventions. You'll see. Third: I like open worlds. I love a big open space to play in and explore. And when you realize Fallout London is actually a bigger worldspace than Fallout 4, with a lot more to do, then if you're like me FOLON becomes even more appealling. I'm not giving much away here, you need to discover it for yourself. One thing I will say - when you learn who some of the voice actors are, you'll realize the devs pulled out every stop they could. One hint: The first two voices you hear when you're in the game are legends, if you're a british sci-fi fan. Get this, play this, enjoy this. It's free, so why not!
