I came to No Man's Sky not too long ago, long after the developers corrected many of the faults that plagued the original game. When I started I had no idea what I was doing. I was running from cave to cave on a frozen planet trying to survive. I came over a hill and marveled at a herd of creatures roaming the valley. That was it, I was hooked. Since then I finished the main quests, spent three days getting that perfect S-class freighter, reached the highest level on most achievements, built several bases, and amassed more units than I know what to do with. There are still days when I suddenly remember that feeling I had when I went over that first hill and I just need to play it again. But so many times when I do play it, I end up getting really disappointed. And it's not because of arriving at a new planet having the same tired ecosystem and creatures. There are still some planets and creatures I come across that are new to me. It's the faults and limitations in the game that make me turn it off. The building components never fit the way you expect. And trying to place a staircase is next to impossible. The first time I about uninstalled the game was when I returned to my base and found it completely filled in by terrain. It's just not possible to build underground. Then the developers re-applied the ecosystems. All the creatures I discovered were extinct. The whole reason I built my bases at their locations was for the beauty of it. Gone. Fine, at least I can still wander around and explore and discover things, which I really enjoy. Now I look back in my discoveries and find other peoples names over things I discovered a year ago! THAT'S MY SYSTEM! How can someone discover the planet 4 months ago when I discovered it's creatures 14 months ago? I stared at my starship resting on the frozen tundra and wondered, what's the point? And once again, I shut the game off to play something else.
