Completed two full acts and have completed halfway through the third act when the "new" patch came through. The patch changed the Legion battles and completely broke the game for me. The legion battles are POINTLESS! No matter what you do, the battles are always staked against you and the losses are too high. I went through 2 acts, never losing a commander, then all of a sudden in act 3, I’m losing one to two every battle. Almost impossible to counter when the "random" rolls are -8 in each category across the board. The story is fantastic and i love the history elements to it. The praetorian combats are fun and interesting. Unless they fix the stupid legion battles, im done playing the game.
As a personal note, I surmise that most of the complaints regarding graphics and glitches are a bit reductive. Clearly everyone seems to have forgotten the glitches Witcher 3 had (floating roach anyone?) in the beginning. The game turned into a masterpiece. It will be patched – relax. Pros: - The game is breathtaking in style and scale. So much so to a fault (more on that later). The art direction is new and something we haven't seen in a very niche genre in a long time. - World crafting, as always by CD Project Red, is great and immersive. -The customization is great, and the story is very gripping. I am a story snob (I shy away from games where you spend $60 for maybe three hour’s worth of story). I love the effort they put into the world building. -The attention to detail in the environment is phenomenal. I find myself just peaking around constantly trying to take in the world. -If you are looking for a storied, adventure, and a gripping world that is different in every way from the normal games; this is your game. - It's FUN. Cons: -the graphics. The bugs can be a bit distracting. The voice acting and writing are FANTASTIC but is diminished sometimes by the graphics and response of the characters. Hopefully, CD will improve on this. -The tool tips can be a little simplistic. With how immersive and in depth the world is, it is hard to understand from the beginning what to do with your items you collect. Sell versus disassemble? No idea and can be a detriment. -The UI in combat is VERY Difficult and appears to be not optimization on a controller. I play on a PC but like to play with a controller on an immersive world such as this (like I did for Witcher 3), it’s more comfortable. But the combat needs to be improved with a controller. I was excited for the game and am even playing it on old gen PC equipment (i7 4790 (non-k), 1333 MHz ram, gtx 980ti). Not the 4k experience but works well with majority at 60 FPS at 1080p.
