Fallout Classic

One of the best RPGs of its genre.

I played Fallout when it first came out. My computer had a 100 MHz CPU and 16 MB of RAM, I think that was below even the minimum requirements (you wouldn't tell by looking at the ones on GOG). The game took 1-2 minutes to reload from area to area and 10-15 seconds to load combat animations whenever I fired a shot. Still, it was one of the best games I have ever played. The atmosphere is amazing, you are so engrossed that when you stop playing you're glad it was just a game. The post-apocalyptic environment is so depressing and yet so beautiful that you feel you're a part of it. The plot is interesting and the quests are diverse and intriguing, the voice acting is superb. Even the sound track fits the style of each area perfectly and enhances its atmosphere. The graphics are pre-rendered which means that they have aged very well. I have bought this game again just for the nostalgia, even though it is too powerful for me to play once more. You shouldn't miss this one. It was worth $50 when I first bought it, and it's definitely worth $6 now.
