Z: The Game

Terrible port of a great classic RTS

This is one of my all-time favourites in RTS. I've played tons of the first DOS version, the Windows 95 version ("Z and Expansion") and Z2: Steel Soldiers. You can see that this one's a port of a mobile version of the game, since it's still lacking Multiplayer, and the UI is a bit odd at places. However the developers seem to be committed to ironing out those flaws. The interface problems (strange mapping of mouse buttons etc.) that were criticized on initial release are already gone, cutscenes are played in full screen now. So please don't listen to the low ratings if you liked the original game and if you can abstain on Multiplayer (I think it will also be added in at some point, as they have already added it to some of the mobile versions at some point after release). Try "The Zod Engine" (an Open-Source remake, mostly abandoned though) if you want it for the Multiplayer side. If the DOS and/or Windows versions get added as a bonus at some point by gog.com, this is an absolute must-have, but I guess license problems are preventing that at the moment.

Realms of Arkania 3

great German RPG

Played this in the 90s, didn't recognize the title at first, because the original title in German is Das Schwarze Auge - Schatten über Riva. Great RPG. Although the 3D world is completely lifeless I really had fun exploring it, and getting familiar with the town more and more. It plays in Riva and some space around the town, so the world isn't as big as in the other Realms of Arkania titles. I guess if you know some background of the RPG it's based on (I read some of the novels, don't know if they're available in English or other languages) it's even better.
