Sid Meier’s Pirates!

Ok but repetitive.

You play as a pirate as the game title implies, but you can play as a good character as well (law abiding), you have your own ship which you can upgrade or change entirely, you also have a crew and you can buy and sell cargo from port to port. You can fight other ships on the sea in a rts style combat and complete missions. The game is ok but very repetitive as fighting other ships, selling cargo and completing the odd mission which is basically the same objective every time is about all you do. 3/5 for me.

Quake 4

Liked it.

Quake 4 I enjoyed quite a bit and I hope ID make another story based Quake game in the future, the game is set on the Strogg homeworld same as Quake 2. The story is very solid and there are some twists in it later down the line which I won't spoil. The combat is pretty good very similar to Doom 3 which is to be expected as it was built on the same game engine, nice choice of weapons. There is a bug which a few other folks have mention as well concerning modern PC's and OS's, where even if you set the graphics to high/ultra the textures look really low resolution but there is a fix to this in the forums and in the other reviews as well.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown Complete Pack

One of the best.

Wow well what can I say about this pure gem, I sunk many many hours into this. Xcom Enemy Unknown complete, features not only the main game (enemy unknown) but it's expansion enemy within and all dlc content, the game is a modern remake I guess you could call it, on the much older game Xcom Ufo Defense from the early 90s. The game is all about an alien invasion of Earth and the governments of the planet unite to form a para-military organisation called Xcom, and you are the commander of this organisation, your job is to manage your troops, fight back against the alien's, research about them and put up a good fight. The game is turn-based, you have a chance to move all your soldiers on your turn and then the opponent has their's, it is very tactical so you have to think of how to eliminate the aliens while also protecting your troops with certain amounts of defensive cover and also trying to achieve other objectives at the same time. Your choices also matter, you will only have a chance to protect certain parts of the planet at once so you have to manage how to help these countries while not letting the panic of the countries you do not help from getting too high as when the panic gets too high they will stop supporting Xcom and leave the council and take their funding with them. Great story as well which I do not want to mention too much about it as it will spoil it but definitely give this game a go if turn-based games are something your are interested in. 5/5 for me.

Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered

One of the better Red Faction games.

The game is all about demolition, and to fight an occupying force on Mars. It is like a sandbox of destruction, you can pretty much topple any building, vehicle or anything else you come across. You can upgrade your gear like armour and weapons. The missions in the game are kinda go here blow up this or kill him objectives so in that sense it can get repetitive but some of the main missions are cool. Overall I would recommend if any of these things appeal to you or if you have played the original then this is the same game just with better graphical options and such.

Dungeon Keeper™ 2

Nostalgia

Bought this a fair few months ago, and been playing a fair bit of it, it brings back memories from my childhood where my Dad would play this and I would watch him and then he'd let me have a go, he was kinda tutorialing me. The game is still as I remember it, building your dungeons and trying to keep out the creeps, collecting gold and controlling your minions. The game has in my opinion held up fairly well, certainly better than Dungeon Keeper 1 and is a real little Nostalgic gem.

Army Men RTS

Great

Army Men RTS (Real time strategy) is a game in the Army Men series of games which focuses on controlling soldier's in an isometric view (top-down) you build structures which in alot of cases resemble house hold objects, for example - your resource collection building is a blender. You play as the green army men soliders as you usually would in the Army Men games, building soliders and vehicles and taking orders from Sarge to charge on through the garden and household nearby taking back territory from the enemy. The game has a great sense of humor, it doesn't take itself too seriously and is just generally fun to play. The game plays very well and I have not noticed any bugs or glitches.

Valhalla Hills

It's ok but not great

In Valhalla Hills, you control some vikings and land on different islands where you will need to complete certain objectives in order to go through the island portal to the next area. You harvest resources, build lumber mills, houses, barracks and all that good stuff. However the game feels very shallow, and doesn't seem like there is much depth to the gameplay and yet there appears to be virtually no tutorial to explain how to do certain tasks, for example you build houses for your Vikings to sleep in and yet they never go in them and sleep outside. Personally I found the game boring which I am surprised about as this game is made by the same people who made the Settler's games which were for the most part...great. I would only buy this if it was on a heavy discount.

Metro 2033 Redux

Great atmosperic apocolyptic game..

Metro 2033 is a post apocolyptic FPS game set in the underground metro system of Russia in the year, you guessed it 2033. You play as a young man who lives in the metro system underground with a lot of other survivors of a nuclear war, who is unaware of anything going on in the outside world or the rest of the metro system, but when you turn of age, a friend of your family will turn up to report some news that will change your characters life in ways he can't imagine when he finds out about what is happening in the rest of the metro and worse..on the surface. Metro 2033 has a great atmosphere, while you are traversing the world, the stealth can make you feel on edge, the scary scenes make you feel like you are actually there. The game can be a little difficult as you need to manage all your resources that you have on you, such as ammunion which can run short very quickly and can force you to get past enemies in other ways. The game has great graphics and sound as mentioned above, there is no bugs or glitches that I have come across. If you are into post apocolyptic survival games you will love this, just buy it lol.

Dragon Age™: Origins - Ultimate Edition

Such a gem.

Well what can I really say about Dragon Age Origins, it's reputation in the gaming world speaks volumes as it is..being a fairly early Bioware title. The storyline is incredible, without spoilers, building up and army to take out the big bad at the end of the game. Like alot of bioware games, you get the typical options such as full customization of your character including the way they look, what class you would like to be, and you can pick your race which includes a origin story for that person which are different for each race, also as with Bioware games you can romance certain character's depending on your alignment and what choices and decisions you make in the game. The game has held up rather well considering it's as im writing this eight years old, the graphics are fairly good, kinda cartoonish but I like that, the sound and atmosphere of the game are great. If you have played Dragon Age Inquisition or Dragon Age II, you may find the combat in this game very awkward, it is very tactical and plays like a dungeon and dragons game, im not overly keen on the combat system myself but bear with it because it is a fantastic game. This includes the main game and it's expansion (awakening) as well as everybit of DLC available for it and the latest patch.
