I remember when I played this game when it was released; the antagonism for the core protagonist by the supporting characters left a sour taste in my mouth then as it did 30 years later. How the main character never stands up for himself and takes on the role of a selfless punching bag overshadowed the now somewhat naive message of hope the game ends with. A game like this could not be made now, because people know better.
