The overall rating currently on the page is 3.5 and I think that is fair, but I've bumped it up to 4 for my review. This is a really interesting game with an original game mechanic for combat and puzzles and very good character design and writing. A few flaws, but an experience I recommend. The combat and puzzles are basically Bejwelled but the character runs around the board making the matches that will cast healing or offensive spells. While you do this, you will avoid enemies trying to block you and hit you with ranged and melee attacks. One thing going in - I recommend playing with a controller if you can rather than a keyboard (there is no mouse control). Firstly, the keyboard controls are mapped only to the direction keys (no WASD), C,X,Z and space. There is no ability to re-map. Secondly, I found that the space bar wasn't really working for me sometimes (as in the game did not respond to it). Thirdly the game does not give you any in-game tutorial for keyboard controls - only for a controller. I ended up switching to an Xbox controller to use on PC. One aspect that I found a little annoying at first is that your character only has left and right animations for walking - there are no front or back facing animations. This kind of made moving feel a little odd. Small quibble but this and the keyboard thing were odd to see missing as these aren't difficult things to add and are common to see. A few aspects also didn't really pan out - items that seemed important didn't end up being, the relationship manager gameplay seemed to make only a small plot change, and the plot raised a lot of questions that weren't answered. The game also ended a little earlier than I expected it to - but I felt like I wanted more of the game rather than being annoyed at the length. As much as I have crticisms, at the end of the day the game is fun and charming and I recommend it. I'd definately buy a sequel.
