I got this game from Amazon Prime and originally installed it just to see if it would work on my machine (I have a old PC)....besides, who turns down a free game? I'm so glad that I have given this a try! It plays very similar to HOMM like everyone else mentions. What I love about it is all of the different combinations to unlock and try out. There's a lot of different heros, spells, factions, treasure, buildings...so many things to see exactly how they work with all of the different combinations. It also has lots of customizations, so you can make the exact game you want to play (I've only played single player so far). And while the graphics are "retro", that definitely works in it's favor....you really do get hundreds of creatures on the screen battling it out in real-time...even on an older machines like mine. Finally, the reason I thought to write this review is because they still update this game! (at least as of 2025) As you can see, I have a lot of games...but this is one I return to quite often! So if you see this on sale (it's actually worth it's base price as well...it's that good!) and are a fan of HOMM, definitely pick it up!
So you filtered by price, and this one came up...is it worth it? For $0.99 (or your nations equivalant) the answer is YES! Its basic Texas Hold'Em Poker, with no variation to the games (except skipping the NPCs jabber). But, each NPC has a different style of play. Yes, you can bluff most hands and scare them off...most of the time. But you will appreciate the personalities after a couple of play throughs. The graphics are dated, but the game should play on most Windows machines...and it's fun! (if you like Texas Hold Em, that is). You can play a hand or a whole tournament, whenever you desire...for a low price. So don't bother waiting for this to go on sale, unless you are tight on funds. And if you don't know how to play Texas Hold em Poker already...this is a great learning game. This is one of my go-to games when I have 5-10 minutes to kill.
Quick description: You drive cars. You smash said cars into other cars (and objects on\off the track) and race to be #1 (or the last car standing). It has race tracks, demolition derby tracks, and some interesting mini-game tracks (for example, 1 track has you drive your car down a ramp and then launch your driver at gigantic bowling pins, attempting to knock them down). So don't get me wrong, this game isn't bad. The graphics are older but not bad for it's age (it is a 17 year old game after all!), the game play is fun, there are different tracks...by itself, it is an OK game. However, Flatout 2 is superior in just about every way, and when they are both on sale, Flatout 2 is a whopping 30 cents more (sorry, I can't speak to non-US Dollar prices). So, I would recommend purchasing this only for nostalgia or if you are a collector. If you only have a couple of bucks to spend on a new (to you!) game, go for Flatout 2 instead.
This game is a racing\destruction derby game, from the PS2 Era. If you can look over the graphics (and honestly, they are not bad...just newer games are better), you will be pleased with purchasing this game. It took me about 25 hrs to complete, and I enjoyed almost every second of it! It plays very well with Keyboard as well. If you enjoyed older Bugbear games like Destruction Derby (or their newer game Wreckfest), then I highly recommend this game. Besides, where else will you find a game for $1.49 (when it is on sale) that will give you 20-40 hours of awesome gameplay? Finally...killer soundtrack! If you came of age in the US (sorry, I can't speak for the rest of the world) in the 90's and like Rock Music, you will love the music (you can also turn off the music if this style of music doesn't float your boat)
