This release is very good. Just works, no hassle of old retail releases for old windows. Any youngster not familiar with this classic may not appreciate it as much, but if the RE formula has you interested, this game takes that and improves upon every aspect, controls, graphics, etc. My complaints on this version is the "hot plug" controls are anything but. When my xbox control batteries died, it would refuse to reconnect to the game. The game would turn off the controller upon connecting continuously. Another complaint with the controls is the default mapping for xinput is silly. L3/R3 for pause and options, serious? and Trigger isn't aim, seriously? Also, I'd like to see an improved launcher with graphic options, rather than a hidden gui. Finally I have to point out the second half of the game gets rather tedious and drawn out. And you're pretty pressed for ammo, so keep the sleep darts handy and only finish off dinos in well travelled areas. Now I considered whether I should deduct a start for all these complains, but having the game still stuck highly in my mind from what it does well, I can't fault it. Like the first time I saw the bloody hand prints smeared on the first save room, or collecting fingerprints and rewritting ID cards, those little touches you completely take for granted in 2025, but in the early 2000s, that was incredible.
