It has a nice artstyle and a simple gamplay, but lacks depth and is stupidly short. There are only 2 checkpoints which make it kinda Dark Souls.
Scores very good overall. It has beatiful visuals which is an even greater achievement considering this is a small studio who built his own engine. Worth buying even without discount.
It is good in its current state. I know, sometimes it's not perfectly balanced and matchmaking could be better (as always). However this is not a paytowin game, mainly because a big part of the "pay" gets invested on aesthetic upgrades. I have easily won high level players with rare cards just with regular decks and a couple of nice cards. Lore is fantastic, looks nice and gets updates and expansions frequently.
Subtly violent and oppresive yet intimate and beautiful. The colour palette and sound effects complement the rather easy gameplay, which can be at times too easy or hard to know what to do next. It plays better with a controller so you can take advantage of the gradient of walk-run. Totally recommended with a discount. The standard price seems a bit too much for me, though the game may well deserve it. Also a small DLC could do a lot of good, much like in Little Nightmares, to further dive into the world.
Despite having obvious flaws (lenght and 2.5D issues) it is beatiful and enjoyable. Some people have complaint about diverging from the original atmosphere. I don't agree, I feel Trine 3 is loyal to its origins and remains a magical game and delightful experience unlike anything else.
Rise of an Empire is probably the most complete game of the series. Gameplay and visuals are good and easy to learn. It includes new unique features in comparison with the other Settlers, mainly the heroes system, which works great. The campaign is long enough and can get challenging at times. Soundtrack is one of my favorites in all gaming. However, there can be some esporadic technical issues and lack of textures quality partially ruins the experience. All in all, the game is feels beatifully and carefully crafted. Buy it on discount.
