Perfect!

This game makes you feel sympathy for a nameless, faceless protagonist. Second, it makes examining documents according to stringent bureaucratic procedures fun and addictive (no, seriously!). And if that wasn't enough, it also has just the right mix of dark humor and dreary thematic elements. Did I mention that it's addictive?

Sword of the Stars: The Pit

Competent roguelike

What you have in this game is a competent roguelike which gets easier as you acquire more recipes for crafting with each playthrough. At some point the game does feel a bit repetitive. It's all fun and dandy when you're learning how to deal with new types of enemies, but by the time you kill your 80,000th Protean you might feel something missing in this game. The classes are also not fully fleshed out / distinguished from one another. A lot of enemies also use the same artwork with a simple palette swap, which feels a bit lazy.
