This is a stone-cold classic, a surprisingly deep and rewarding fantasy strategy game. It's incredible how many times I've fallen into the "just one more turn" trap, only to claw my way out of the game two hours later. One of the best strategy games ever made.
Is it shallow? Yes. Is it mindless shooting? Yes. Is it well-executed and enjoyable? Absolutely. Crimsonland is a classic top-down shooter, packed wall to wall with bloody carnage. The different game modes (missions, several different survival modes, and even a hidden mini-game) keep things reasonably fresh. There's a bit of imbalance in randomly-generated weapons, but I just keep coming back to this title whenever I want to let off steam blasting a few hundred aliens, zombies, or those damnable splitting spiders.
