Fantastic game. This is how a platformer should be. As I started up the game, I was a little worried, with it recommending a controller to me. Turns out the keyboard controls are just fine! And you can remap them. The art style is great. The characters are memorable and have personalities. The hit-detection is spot on, and you can get a real feeling of mastery when you get good at landing flashy combos, and taking out all kinds of enemies. You may recognize some references to other games or pop culture.
There is a serious issue with using arrow keys or WASD to move in this game. Yooka responds to the key press too slow, and then keeps going after you've already released the arrow key. Apparently the original camera issue has been fixed. Using the mouse to control the camera is the way to go. So hopefully, they will also fix the movement key sensitivity in a later update. Other than that, the game is fantastic, so I give it 5 stars.
This is one of those games that has "simple" graphics, yet can lag severely, unless you have a high end PC. The premise of the game is good. It's easy to figure out how to build a thriving city, but there isn't much motivation in the game. This game may improve significantly with updates.
