While the developers decided not to create a co-op campaign experience. It does have some co-op like multiplayer game modes. It's all still very much PvP, but one of my favorite multiplayer modes has you leading a band of guys along with 3 or 4 (something like that) bands of teammates against enemy bands. It's a very fun game mode, but you really feel the hurt when you're going up against veteran players. I.E. teams that work together and know what they're doing. Even then, some factions are just plain better than others. It's one of those hard to balance things and hopefully they've continued to work on that. I played some of the campaign, but it was Early Access when I played and they were releasing massive updates. Thus, I with a 300GB data cap (at the time), decided to wait for it to get to full release. Now, it's full release and it's on GOG. I'll have to get it here when I have some free cash to blow. It's definitely a game I want in my more permanent Game Collection. While this could be viewed as an eye candy update to Warband. It has some features and niceties that set it apart from the much older games in the franchise.
Quite simply, this is the sequel to Fallout 3 that everyone hoped for. Even, if they didn't know they were hoping for it. The game is almost good enough to get just for the Caravan card game that you can play with various individuals through the wasteland. On sale, I would say it's definitely worth it just for that. Moving on, this game has some of the most interesting and fun storylines in the entire Fallout Series. To me, it was a classic, when it was released. They took everything the learned from Fallout 3 and just made it better. Also, GOG somehow getting these games here, is why I love GOG. GOG + one of the best sandbox adventures of all time = Stupid amounts of fun.
I spent quite a bit of time playing all of the previous Fallout Games, including Fallout Tactics. The Fallout game Universe is one of the most interesting gaming experiences you can have. Even with the dated graphics Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics are worth playing for the interesting story and still fun game play. Fallout 3 picks up another story, but stays true to that gaming Universe. I playd this thing to completion on PS3 and PC. It has some of the best cut scenes in all of the series. Also, I totally forgot about the Games for Windows Live issue and am so glad that GFWL has died. Even without any investment in the series of games. You will love this game, if you love FPS games. Especially, if you ever thought FPS games can be a bit shallow. Looking for a more in depth and yet easy to play FPS game. This is it. Best thing is, you don't even need to use a gun. You can go full on pacifist, gun crazed nut job, berserker, or whatever flavor of destruction you so choose. Fallout 3 gives you a pretty nice sandbox of adventures and sets you loose. Tons of fun to be had.
I originally purchased a 4 pack of this game on Steam. I got it here as soon as I found they had added it to the collection. I have over 1,800 hours in this game on Steam. The developers keep releasing new content updates! As of 11/2016, the stock pictures on the store front don't do this game justice. This game requires you to do some building to progress, but you can focus almost entirely on exploring, gathering resources, and fighting an endless stream of monsters. You are rewarded banners for killing 50 of each enemy type *excluding bosses*. You hang the banners for decoration, but they also make that type of enemy easier when fighting near the banner. You will want to make good use of them on expert mode. Expert mode is THE MODE you want to play in. Bosses drop Expert Mode items in Treasure Bags that you can use in normal mode. Treasure Bags are dropped for each person who has damaged the boss. Each Treasure Bag is dropped only for your character. That way everyone gets something every time you defeat a boss. Build a hut over the place you spawn at the start, you'll thank me when the zombies come. xD Tip #2 rope makes digging a giant pit so much less dangerous. Once you defeat the main easy mode boss, your world enters hard mode, permanently. Though, that's where most of the coolest and funnest action is to be had. Don't forget to make at least two worlds as the corruption and crimson biomes don't spawn on the same world. Don't be afraid to make a bunch of treasure run worlds as you might not get a pyramid on your first world and may not get all of the items you want from the floating islands in the sky. Though, you should be able to get an infinite number of biome specific chest drops through fishing. You can get biome specific crates from fishing. Though expect to not get much of anything in small puddles and without good fishing gear. Good luck and enjoy this awesome game!
Ultima VII is a masterpiece. The story is good and the side quests are almost always interesting. Rob the Bank, Kill the Banker, and Ressurect Her. Yeahh...., it's awesome like that. :-) The story line is pretty much totally open ended. There are a few ruts that you get stuck in, but for the most part you get to do what you want when you want to do it. I love the Transportation Options in the First Half of Ultima VII. You get to use Carriages, Ships, and even a Magic Flying Carpet. And Yes, you can pretty much go anywhere on the Magic Flying Carpet. :-) I do admit that the "chairs" on the flying carpet were a bit much, but it worked. No other game has given you this much freedom and this much control over your world than this game has. This is the game that inspired Ultima Online and Spawned a whole new genre of games.
The Witcher has interesting characters and great story line. (I have not finished the game, but became addicted as soon as I started playing!) The game mechanics take a little bit of getting used to, but I enjoy the style and the normal mode is Not Evil. I haven't tried hard, but seriously Hard is supposed to be hard. Normal is supposed to provide some challange and Easy is Supposed to Be Easy. It tells a story and does that frequently by using "cut scenes". Most of them use the in game engine which works well. This is a great game and is fun to play!
I am a huge fan of Master of Magic. The play style is similar to Civilization II, but more in depth. You build cities and manage resources, but you also have a whole line of spells to research and use. There are global spells that effect various things even your combat. When you attack or defend you zoom in to a battlefield. Here you compete in turn based combat. You can cast spells from your Keep or have Heros and some types of special units cast them. It is definitely one of my all time favorite games. I very possibly have spent more game hours playing this game than any other game. Great Replayability!
