This game was not ready for release and it shows in the amount of bugs and optimization issues. Not just visual bugs or T posing NPCs (of which there are plenty), but gameplay bugs. Hostile AI simply standing in plain view not attacking you. Hostile AI spotting you through solid cover while in stealth mode. Weird physics issues with level geometry and getting stuck in places that seems navigable. Vehicles getting stuck in terrain with no way to push them or flip them. Weird audio bugs where certain dialogue is not voiced. Crashes to desktop and driver issues (even on latest recommended AMD drivers [clean install]). Yes, it will get better - a few months from now after multiple patches. Another delay and more QA testing could have helped resolve many of these problems. There's a fun game beneath all the bugs. You catch glimmers of it from time to time. Please help it shine and turn this 2/5 into a 4/5.
Broforce crystalizes 80s/90s action movie mayhem into tongue in check jingoistic bro jokes and packages it as a fast paced platformer. The result is chaotic and very fun. Gameplay consists of platforming through pixelated environs with high destructibility which is sometimes unpredictable. Along the way, you rescue captive bros which unlock new playable characters. While the gameplay is ultimately a one trick pony, Broforce manages to keep it fresh through the vast variety of playable characters, each representing a well known action movie character. Each character has a unique playstyle and abilities which makes ploughing through the repetitive levels enjoyable. Haven't checked out the level editor but it does have one which you can use to make custom campaigns. The only reason I docked a star is because sometimes the action bogs the screen down in pixelated explosions and particle effects its hard to keep track of what's going on survive. While part of Broforce's charm, it gets old. I feel like if the game didn't use the retro pixel style this wouldn't be as big of an issue.
