Deadly Premonition: Director's Cut

Great game, terrible port

This game is really weird and junky... And it's charming in its own way. Heavily inspired by Twin Peaks. It has that same dreamy atmosphere (and plot and characters are very similar). The game has two layers. In the first one, you travel through the town, talk to NPCs, complete side quests. In the second one, you enter some sort of nightmarish reality where you shoot the zombies and look for the clues. However, this port is broken. You may have zero issues or those preventing you from progressing the game (or launching it at all), depending on your luck. I had problems especially with the chapter 9, when my save file was corrupted. I had to use another one downloaded from the internet to continue the game. You see, the game saves to only one file. You need to back up your save files in case your file gets corrupted. The game is definitely worth playing through. It's shame they did such a poor job with this port.

Mad Games Tycoon

Good addictive management game

It is comparable to Game Dev Tycoon, but with more choices. You don't have to only make games. You can focus on developing game engines and get money every time sometimes purchases your engine or makes a game on it. You can become a publisher. You can buy out other companies a live off their hard work. However, the start can be a little slow and punishing when you don't know what you're doing. You can't even make a game report right from the start. If you make a bad game, you don't know what you've done wrong until you unlock the quality assurance room. It's really punishing. You need to push through to see all that Mad Games Tycoon has to offer.

Lost Horizon

Much better than expected

I expected a cheap knockoff of one popular franchise. What I got instead was a decent adventure game that stands on its own. Playing Lost Horizon feels like watching a classic adventure movie with heavy Indiana Jones vibes. That is (what I believe) the developers were going for and they succeeded. If what I described sounds appealing to you, give this game a chance.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition

Interesting world with a great story

Open world that is fun to explore, tons of content, interesting side quest and a great main story that wraps up the trilogy. And it holds up to the books it's based upon. And it's just fun to play. After countless of hours I wasn't fed up with the game. Which is rare for me in these days.

The Excavation of Hob's Barrow

Nice Point & Click Horror

It's nice atmospheric point & click horror game. The voice acting is superb. The puzzles are rather straightforward and easy. They don't pose any challenge for a seasoned adventurer. The game is not very long (it took me around six hours to beat it). I really liked the setting. The desolate moors of England during Victorian era with horror element is right up to my valley. It made me remember Wuthering Heights and The Hound of the Baskervilles. If you like horror folk tales and point & click adventure games, give this one a try.

ENDLESS™ Space 2

Great Civ Game In Space

This game ticks all the boxes of Civilization in Space for me. Exploring and colonization of new systems, researching advanced technologies, building fleets of space ships, interacting with minor alien civilizations... I have always liked space operas and I like Civilization games. For me, Endless Space was ideal combination. The main positive of this game is that playing the game as a different faction really makes difference. Although they share the same technology tree, they have unique pros and cons that change the gameplay. The ambient soundtrack is superb. This game can take many hours of your life, if you let it (just one more turn).

Apotheon

For fans of the Greek Mythology

In Apotheon you go to the war with Greek gods. You meet all the usual suspects of the Greek pantheon and a few mythological creatures as well. Boss fights are interesting and every god requires a different strategy (when you fight Artemis, you are turned into a deer and she's chasing you and then your roles reverse). 2D-platformer goes very well with ancient pottery artstyle. The game is divided into several thematically different areas. There are two hub areas where you can upgrade your armor and weapons and buy healing items. The controls for mouse and keyboard are a little bit clunky. Overall, a very enjoyable Hack 'n' Slash game for fans of the Greek Mythology.

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen

Japanese take on western RPG

The main draw of the game is the combat that is awesome. Besides regular sized enemies you fight giant mythical creatures you can climb on. Other great thing about this game is pawns. You create your main character and also your pawn. This NPC will be your companion and guide. If you discover weakness of a particular enemy, your pawn will learn it and use it in a fight. You can hire more experienced pawns from other players and they actually give you tips about tactics or quests. It's a really neat feature. Unfortunately, receiving gifts and crystal rifts for using the pawn is kinda broken right now. Stick to the forums to learn more. The graphics didn't look that great even when the port was released. However, I kinda liked the aesthetics. Overall, it's a great game. Not for its story, but for the combat and pawns.

Batman: Arkham Asylum Game of the Year Edition

The best atmosphere

This game is not as big as its sequels, doesn't have all the improvements. However, it has the best atmosphere. The claustrophobic madhouse will get under your skin. The combat still feels great. And reasonable amount of Riddler's trophies and riddles doesn't make you want to pull your hair out, if you're trying to find them all.

Middle-earth™: Shadow of Mordor™ Game of the Year Edition

AC meets Arkham combat

This game borrowed open world design from Ubisoft and combat from Arkham series. This combination (with nemesis system) makes it a very enjoyable experience. Yes, it's basically orc killing simulator, but you get to play with Mordor's hierarchy. Add some neat wraith powers and you're in for the treat.
