I thought this would have been a god game like Black & White or Populous but it couldn't be farther from those games. This game has (from what I can tell) very little interaction a player can do. Perhaps this was the developer's intention to make a game where as a God you have limited impact on the world. However as a player, you want to have something to do, but unfortunately the combat is just a set of random actions in which you have little ability to influence. The game looks good but the underlying mechanics remind me of Megaman Battle Chip Challenge.
I really didn't see this one coming. Maybe I'm judgmental but I saw the nerdy protagonist and was instantly dismissive of this game. Decided to pick it up on sale on HOLY SMOKES it's good. Really solid controls (I used a 360 controller), lot's of replay value (collect 100 gems or complete secret levels within levels), and a kickin' soundtrack! If you're a fan of VVVVVVV or other modern retro games, get this game. Seriously.
The first time I played Fallout was when I was 12. I must admit I had no idea what I was doing. I was frustrated and thought the game was stupid. 10 years later after falling in love with Fallout 3, I decided to pick this game up on sale. I can see why I was so frustrated when I was younger, the game does a poor job at introducing you to controls, but then again, game manuals provided that training, not tutorials. After getting over the initial hump in the learning curve I've been sucked into this game. The world is ripe for exploration and there are many possibilities to grow in power, riches, and in companions. The dialogue is often witty and appealing and the combat is fulfilling especially if you enjoy tactic games or D&D.
