I always know this was a low-budget production, but it exceeds my expectations. The story is interesting and captivating, and the acting is with full emotion. Another surprise is that it features tons of references to Hong Kong's umbrella movement, and most actors speaks both English and Cantonese well. It feels home to me. I'm glad to be able to support a business by those fine people.
I really don't understand why people have such mediocre rating for this game. Is this because mortals tend to follow trends? Or are they simply blind enough to undermine such great piece of work? Dontnod Entertainment, developer of Life Is Strange, is famous for their storytelling. Therefore, this game is truely an excellent story. If imagined as a TV series, this would be an engaging story with a few rich characters plus dozens of lesser ones. It's a mixture of mystery, sci-fi, and fantasy, woth at least 8.0 on IMDb. On gameplay, this game has quite a few innovation. It gives me a feeling of an early stage of Assassin's Creed + Middle-earth + Dark Souls. Combat is definitely not as bad as people tend to critisize, has a stamina-management style like Dark Souls. NPCs must be protected in order to keep living and giving quests, like Middle-earth's nemesis system. Cinematics are like Assassin's Creed, straightforward storytelling with limited player intervention. Choices made during major plot points probably does not affect that much, and content aside from Main story isn't that rich. But this could be one good start of another excellent franchise. I hope Dontnod will keep on with the good work.
