...based on nostalgia alone? I don't own the GOG version, and I don't know how it performs. I played it on the N64 when It was released ages ago and loved it. 5 Stars. But isn't it important to know how this version of the game performs? Check the wishlist for "Reviews should state whether or not they're based on the GOG version" by MikeFE, or my own "Review Filters" and vote! Sorry about that, but I think it's important, And now a short review based off of my hazy recollection: Action packed and simple. As a preteen I didn't have the patience for flight sims, but loved the concept of dogfighting with lasers in space. This game let me jump right in and get blasting. The setting is mostly planetside, which means you get to visit colorful Star Wars locations, but don't spend much time in the emptiness of space. Myself, I quite enjoy the abyss, but the planetside missions take full advantage of the Star Wars license. Intuitive and responsive controls, ...let's hope GOG ensures the same quality experience we remember.
I wonder how many of these reviews were written after playing the GOG version. The first level as Kurt was just as I remembered it, but something has gone terribly wrong with Max. He does not respond properly to mouselook. Many others who have bought the game experienced the same thing, and GOG support has not given a satisfactory explanation of or solution to the problem. One extra star for how fun I know the game should be.
