The base game is very enjoyable, and I had hoped to stay up to date, but lost interest a while back after DLC overkill and overpricing. Grew weary researching which DLC's were worth it, so just decided to spend my dollars on something else, something new entirely. Otherwise, if you do not mind spending money on that which in my opinion is the downfall to the gaming industry (too many overpriced DLC's that fail to deliver), go for it! It is a fun, in-depth, and engrossing experience, especially for 4x space strategy. I fire up the base game from time to time, and probably will again soon.
