OlliOlli

OlliOlli

OlliOlli is a side-scrolling skateboarding game. There are 25 levels available, each level has 5 achievements to unlock, you may progress through all of the 25 levels with no restriction, you can just ignore the achievements and have fun. However, if you want to play in pro mode, which is the rebuild version of the 25 levels, but on a much harder difficulty, then you will need to unlock every achievement in each level. The game has a very basic control scheme, however, the control scheme is a little different to what you may be used to in other games, using only the "A" button, shoulder buttons, and left analog stick ("A" is not the jump button, you need to press "A" just before you land). Also, the game features a few tutorials, I highly encourage anyone to finish those before they start.

To The Moon

To the Moon

To the Moon is the second game made in RPG Maker that I have finished so far, the first one being Always Sometimes Monsters. The game is pretty linear with a few mini-games that come along from time to time and a focus on story. I won't say anything related to the story, since this is how I started and enjoyed discovering every little bit on my own. Also, the soundtrack (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Snl67XsI6Is) is amazing on its own.

Saints Row 2

Saints Row 2

Before you play, I highly encourage anyone to check this (http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Saints_Row_2]) for some essential improvements and especially the "Gentlemen of the Row Super Mod" from there. Saints Row 2 is a open world game set in the fictional city of Stilwater. From the beginning of the game, the map of Stilwater is fully visible. However, shops and activities will simply be displayed as a question mark until the player discovers them. Missions are unlocked by earning respect from some fun to play mini-games and side missions. The game is similar to titles such as Sleeping Dogs and the GTA series, but with more comedy, chaos and weirdness. Comparing Saints Row 2 to the old GTA games, I liked the checkpoints during missions (looking back at San Andreas, some missions really needed this feature) and the ability to save whenever you want (not just at a safe house). Also, just like GTA, here you can expect a great variety of soundtracks and interesting radio stations.

Dreamfall Chapters: The Final Cut

Dreamfall Chapters

Dreamfall Chapters is a sequel to the adventure games The Longest Journey and Dreamfall: The Longest Journey. Chapters includes a recap of the previous games to ease the new players into the story. The game consists of 5 episodes with a varying duration. Most of the episodes take about 3-4h to finish with the exception of episode 2, which takes about 6h to complete. Dreamfall Chapters is set in two parallel universes: Stark, a cyberpunk future Earth, and Arcadia, its magical fantasy counterpart. Although the game features a linear plot with a set outcome, the players have to make many choices throughout the game that have far-reaching impact on the later story events. The gameplay focus is on the exploration of the environments and the story and on solving puzzles in the third-person view. While not a completely open world, the game contains several free-roaming exploration levels. The on-screen interface is hidden by default to improve the immersion. Also, there is no combat or stealth gameplay in Dreamfall Chapters. Dreamfall Chapters was originally developed on the Unity 4 game engine, but was retroactively upgraded to Unity 5 before the release of Book Four. There are some great looking environments, character models, and the soundtrack is amazing as well. I highly recommend playing the first two games, since I did have some trouble understanding a few things here and there, however, the game is playable and enjoyable without the first two games, especially with the in-game recap video.

Trine Enchanted Edition

Trine: Enchanted Edition

Trine is a side-scrolling action platform/puzzle game developed by Frozenbyte, originally released in 2009. A remake of Trine called Trine: Enchanted Edition was released. It ports the game to the Trine 2 engine and adds online multiplayer. The gameplay consists of controlling and switches between three different characters (a wizard, a thief, and a knight) to try to complete levels filled with enemies, lots of great puzzles and many secret treasures. There is also a experience system that is shared among all characters, and is incremented by acquiring bottles found throughout levels. Every 50 experience points, each character is given one point towards the purchase of upgrades to their abilities. After so many years this is still one of the best local/online co-op experiences I've seen. Due to the enhanced edition upgrade, the game still looks good (#1, #2) and sounds amazing, just listen to the soundtrack.
