I absolutely love this game. I originally played this game when it first came out. I was super excited because I enjoyed the Original Vampire The Masquerade Video game and had high hopes for this one. It delivered and in fact was better than first. It was one of the first FPS RPGs I ever played, even though it was the first one made. The story was fantastic, with lots of twists and turns. The game play was easy to get use to if you played any other FPS games and I had played a lot. The graphics for it's time were great and now still look good. They held up well but won't compare to the current generation of games like The Witcher 3 or Fallout 4. Perhaps one day they will remaster it. The load times were LOOONG. That was my biggest complaint with the game. Other than that there wasn't much else I didn't like. The game took place in a modern setting which was fun, you got to run around with vampires, use guns and what not. The game is a dark setting and Mature rated. It is a lot like a dark more gothic version of Underworld or Blade. There have been some other good Vampire themed games like Blood Omen, Legacy of Kain, Bloodrayne, and many more, but this was still the best one. It really gave you that feel of being in a world full of vampires and trying to survive. It is based on a Pen and Paper RPG. I have always wanted to play the Pen and Paper rpg but never have. I have played others so I can safely say that this is one of the few RPG video games that gave me the same feeling that I get when I play a pen and paper one. I can't really explain why, but even more so than the recent fallout games, perhaps the only one that comes close is The Witcher series. The character in this game really felt like it was me playing (like in an RPG) a character I built and could do what I wanted with him. Even though it isn't open world. The dialog options and side quests and character interactions all were with how I would want to play a character. I highly recommend this game!
Overall this is a really good adventure game from the late 90s. It is worth buying if you are a fan of Cthulhu and Sherlock Holmes. The game has 2 modes, first person and 3d person views. Swapping between them is pretty easy. The controls are pretty standard for a 3D adventure game, you use a mouse and keyboard to move around. As the previous reviewer mentioned the controls in 3rd person are bit frustrating due to camera angles but the controls are pretty easy to get use to and in first person perspective you can almost play the whole game with just the mouse. I would recommend remapping keyboard controls from the arrows to WASD instead, as it is much more comfortable. The graphics for the remastered edition are very nice, the game has aged well because of this. The game looks much smoother than before. The story is a bit slow paced but never boring. Like many adventure games of it's kind the puzzles are pretty straight forward they range from finding clues to mixing chemicals to lock picking . The inventory is simple and you can combined some items you find. If you have played any of the other Sherlock Holmes games then you will feel right at home, if not you will within a few minutes of playing. The acting and dialog is well done and the puzzles aren't too challenging. The only downside to the game is that unlike old sierra adventure games you can't die or lose, you simply progress through the game like an interactive Sherlock Holmes movie or book. But that is not to say there aren't areas to explore or you can't get stuck. Sometimes you can get stuck because the game won't let you move on until you have found or completed everything in the area you are in and you might easily miss a clue or an item. Thankfully they added the ability to highlight interactable items with the space bar (default). So if you are looking for a creepy story and fun game in the world of Sherlock Holmes, I recommend picking this game up. It is a short but fun game.
This game is pretty bad. Not as bad as critics said but very disappointing for Leisure Suit Larry fans. It isn't a adventure game but more like a bunch of min-games strung together. It has humor and the soft-core porn that made the series such a hit but it is the departure from adventure gaming and not having Al Lowe attached to the game that makes it a poor addition to the series. However, for 6 bucks it is I would say worth trying as the game is pretty funny at times.
This game is one of my favorite Adventures games. It has a good story with good acting. I mean there is no Oscar winners here but for an FMV adventure game, the acting is good. There is a hint system that will help you if you get stuck or can't solve a puzzle. It has lots of humor and suspense. If you want to play one of the best FMVs or adventures games of all time, Play this game. Also it doesn't matter if you haven't played the others, there are a few inside jokes if you have but you still can follow the story and enjoy it without playing the others. I know I did. Plus it is one of the few games that takes place in San Francisco and one of the even fewer that take place in a future version of San Francisco. Buy. this. Game!!!!
Baldur's Gate 2 is one of the greatest RPGS of all time. Great game with great characters. Good graphics for its time and great audio. Very fun game to play and online co-op is just the icing on the cake.
