Cyberpunk 2077

above my expectations

My expectations had been set so low due to the messy launch and constant negative reviews that I was expecting something much, much worse (as some defined it, a janky GTA clone). Instead my experience with the game (which occurred about a year after release, a delay that possibly improved it by some margin) was definitely positive. After having completed the main story with 60 + hours in the game, I am left with a little bit of melancholy for having abandoned the world and its characters; character that to me felt very real, with their peculiar backstories and professional voice acting. Some more technical/gameplay aspects still feel half-finished/polished, but overall I'd say this is a must for anybody even vaguely interested in the cyberpunk genre and it themes. To add on the topic of immersion and "cyberpunk-ness", I recall an unkind tweet by one of the genre fathers (William Gibson), who stated that (in the trailers) the game looked too bright and action-oriented to actually be defined "cyberpunk"; after playing it I can say that thankfully this is not the case, as in my opinion the themes brought up in the author's Sprawl trilogy (although the mythology of the board game was not inspired by those books) are all present and strong. And on top we also got a Portal easter egg/cameo!
