If you're disappointed how far Rainbow Six has removed itself from the classic tactical gameplay, come back to Swat 4 to get your fix. Clear rooms, dispatch hostiles and save the civvies in a never ending fight against crime alone or with a friend! When you've had your fill with the base game, try out the Swat: Elite Force mod for an improved and streamlined version of the game; the developer of the mod even got a job working on the new Ready or Not game! Overall, this is probably one of my favorite PC games ever.
If you are a fan of tactical shooters such as the early Rainbow Sixes or SWAT 4, then you will enjoy the hell out of Door Kickers. It's pretty much the top down version of SWAT 4; plan your entries and command a variety of upgradeable squads with a number of gadgets and guns at your disposal. But, what's different about Door Kickers is that there are two ways of playing: drawing out your entire tactical plan in one go and tweaking every move to execute the perfect plan or progressively moving your team as you progress through the map. At the end of each mission you are rated out of 3 stars, completion times, and doctrine points. Stars allow you to upgrade your arsenal and gear while doctrine points upgrade your squad's skill trees based on the different classes. This can lead to several more hours of replaying missions to achieve that perfect run and gain more stars and doctrines to upgrade. The enemy AI in this game are very smart as well. There are not only official missions and highly customizable randomly generated missions , but also Steam Workshop integration allowing custom weapons and user created maps via the in-game map editor (which is not 100% complete, but 100% functional). Overall, if you are a fan of tactical shooters: GET THIS GAME! Sunk 20+ hours in this game and definitely worth the $15 I paid when it was in Early Access.
