The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition

good game!

good game, best since Morrowind

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Game of the Year Edition Deluxe

Good game, but empty world + needs mods

Compared to Morrowind with its hundreds of quests, this is a beautiful glass sphere, but rather empty. The graphics and overall feel of the game is great, the leveling by skills good as usual, but there are a few drawbacks to the game. I liked the beginning, but the main quest became very repeating and in time dull (open Oblivion gate and slay all creatures - it was a tedious clicking grindfest). Also the dynamic leveling of your opponents I dislike and especially here it was very strange. Of course, nothing against bit of challenge. But as someone mentioned in review already, the challenge is quite high and becomes boring in time. When you encounter bandits on high level, they have for example full glass armour. Just imagine this lore-wise and logical-wise, it is a nonsense. They should have appropriate equipment (leather, chainmail), but ofc leveled a bit. If you like strong main quest and nice graphics, go for it (5* / 5) . If you like exploring vast world and doing lots of minor quests, you will be disappointed (2* / 5). Thanks to many player, you can download many mods to this game and adjust it to your taste. I recommend this. And I also recommend a mod - total remake/conversion, which uses only the graphics and leveling of Oblivion and otherwise it is a completely different fantasy world: Nehrim. https://sureai.net/games/nehrim/ I have played it and spent more than 100 hours of playing the main quest. It is worth trying. Just see the ratings of this mod.

Carmageddon 2: Carpocalypse Now

Sometimes destruction is so much fun...

I was so disappointed when I could not install Carma2 on newer systems, and so glad GOG has made it playable again! Carnage with a car, gore and destruction. Nothing less, nothing more. But sometimes it is so satisfying. And sometimes you can make so funny acrobatic stuff with your car... 5 starts out of 5.

Realms of Arkania: Star Trail (Remake)

Old classic in new coat

I only installed this game a few days ago and I'm very excited about it. It seems literally like old ROA2: Star Trail with its complete story, in new graphics and with some improvements. No issues at all as other reviews mention: Installation was smooth as butter. Only the game starts in German, but after 2 clicks in the menu (Einstellungen=Settings, Sprache=Speech) and you have english. For all who don't know this old classic, this is a hardcore RPG. That means you have to find all the clues by yourself. There is no exclamation mark at important NPC, only a journal where you keep all the notes and quests. You have to talk to people to get these clues. All the old mechanics remain, the Dark Eye system of skills based on 3 basic attributes, the combat, the wide selection of spells... But some things are even better. The character creation is better and simplified, you can adjust the attributes far better than in old ROA2. And also there is no "3 attempts, 3 failures... that means no increase" when leveling up: for me the most hated thing in former game. There are many pre-made characters which have very well, maybe superior statistics than your rolled chars, one can simply start with default party (which is also completely same as from old game - Iris, Norat,...). The general setting of the game offer some more adjustment, like turning off breaking of the weapon during combat (like in original ROA2). The only drawback I see is the look of some types of faces in character creation. The texture of wrinkled faces is causing the characters to look really ugly. All other faces are quite okay, considering this is a game from 2016 (simply make younger characters). Also some of the features of the char creator are not fully tuned, but it is not very important. Overall look and feel is good, For all you who like exploring vast balanced world (Dark Eye lore and mechanics was for example in Drakensang and I have very good experience with it), this game is worth trying.
