Keep games alive!
Fantastic RE game which brought in new mechanics to the franchise. Currently running very well, controller support works perfectly. Now GOG, do us all a favour and get the other RE games on here aswell, WE WANT THEM ALL!!!
Runs like a dream, no issues with controller, no crashes, all modes unlocked from the very start. You have proper A-B scenarios in this unlike the remake, they did a lazy job with those. Also you havent got an unstoppable tyrant here, you actually get rewarded if you fight him, or you can just run. In the remake they took the choice away, he just follows you nonstop, putting rounds into him only wastes ammo. STOP TAKING AWAY THE CHOICES CAPCOM, Like you did in RE 3 REMAKE aswell.

The game has good gunplay in it and the main character is a badass, but the game gets repetitive fast! Levels are pretty basic, constantly run down some hallways, shoot badguys that lay around every other corner, and then a small bit of platforming sometimes. The AI is mostly braindead and will miss you even when standing right next to you, then you get the odd one that will have pinpoint accuracy with a powerful weapon. Nothing that will stop you longterm though as on normal mode it is very easy most of the time. The game lets you pick your weapon loadouts with money earned from missions completed before starting new missions which i really like, it adds a little more variety to how you wana play the game.You can pick between pistols, shotguns, sniper and machine guns etc, and you unlock more as you progress through the game. One of the big reasons why i have lowered the score down is due to the numerous bugs in the game. Sometimes i have been stuck or sucked into objects and doors with no hope of getting unstuck. Having to reload a save many times, sometimes losing quite abit of progress which is frustrating! I even had a problem where one of my saves started crashing every time i tried to load it up, meaning i had to load an earlier save file so i could finally continue with the game. That alone is a good reason not to bother wasting my time going back for a second playthrough, these things should of been fixed when it was re-released. If it were not for these problems, i would of probably given it a 3/5 as its middle of the pack really for FPS games of that time, it's not terrible but also not that good. Would advise buy on sale only.
Story is 10/10 gameplay is frustrating. why? terrible ai, ai has either awful aiming or the best aiming you ever seen, able to shoot you within 0.1 second of running around a corner even with you crouched hiding behind a wall. the balance off the missions is horrible, with barely any health around, you will have to kill lots of bad guys. weapons are fairly weak too, shooting them multiple times with even a shotgun sometimes isnt enough. game also has lots off bugs, and puts you in bad spots all the time. like loading you into a checkpoint with the ai already pointing the gun at you and taking your health down without a chance to move. Story and immersion off being in the mafia is GOD TIER level but the gameplay is not good, making you rage lots off times due to how badly designed the missions are. buy on sale.
