If you played the first part and thought it was at least an ok game, you will like this one is better. I wouldn't go crazy and say that this is oh so much better, but it is much more enjoyable. I reviewed the first game as well. The gameplay is basically the same as the first part as it is a direct continuation of the first part. In the first part, he is sent to investigate a small town. In this part, he isn't happy with the outcome so he goes back during his own time to find the real answer and finds tthat the problem is bigger than he thought. Like the first game, you need to solve puzzles to continue with the storyline but there are a few optional puzzles as well. The puzzles are more numerous and usually more difficult. I had to take more time to think of the solutions and it was the final puzzle of this game that caused me to finally need to use hints. Another fun game worth playing.
I was hesitant about getting this game but when it finally went on sale, the reviews convinced me to try it out. I got this and the second part together as they were both on sale. This is obviously a puzzle type game, but there were not as many as I thought there would be. It seemed to be mainly focused on the story. Without adding any spoilers, the game was basically a linear puzzle/story combination to where you need to solve the puzzles in order to continue with the story. When opening the map to select where to go, you can pick a place you have been to before, even if it is not where you need to go to continue the story. However, it is usually pointless to go anywhere but the next storyline step. I say usually because there are a couple of locations of where you can find some optional puzzles and you are free to return to those spots for a couple more of those types. As for the story itself, I think it was worth following. It was interesting with bits of comedy. The first game ends with a clifhanger but the second part finishes it. The puzzles were fun, but usually not very difficult. There were a few puzzles that made me stop and think a bit. The descriptions for how to solve the puzzles were usually good, but it wasn't until the Fish puzzle that the description was a bit confusing for me. I mentioned above that there are optional puzzles, and some of those have 2 or 3 parts to it. For example, the bug and bird puzzles have 2 more optional puzzles of the same type, just more complicated. It's no problem if you miss these optionals during the gameplay because after the credits roll, you are back in the office and you can review all completed and missed puzzles. I gave this 4 stars because this part was kinda short and the puzzles weren't particularly hard. I agree with some of the other reviews that part 1 and 2 probably should have been a single game. Either way, I think it was worth playing.
This isn't quite as good as the first one, but it is close enough that it still gets 5 stars from me. As with the first one, this game can very easily take a long time if you keep getting distracted. It is fun to mess with the creatures during each level and that can distract you from the main goal. It is worth getting.
This is easily the best shooter I have ever played. I first saw this game as a $5 demo cd at walmart. I didn't have much money but wanted a new game to play, so I figured, why not? I was so impressed with it, I went out to get the full game, which was only 10 bucks at the time. During my multiple game plays, I have not encountered one bug. If there are any bugs, they are't noticable to where they affect the game play. Crotream did an amazing job with everything. I even think the soundtrack is one of the best and sometimes listen to it while I work. I was so totally hooked on this game that I get anything and everything that Croteam has made, including Talos Principle (2014 first person puzzle game). If it has been made from Croteam, it is worth 5 stars.
For my favorite game of all time, I am torn between this game and Planescape Torment. With all the Heroes of Might and Magic games, I think this is the most perfect one. Easy to learn, understand and control, but difficult to win (with higher difficulties).
