I enjoyed my time with Amatsutsumi. Without getting into the weeds too much, this VN is "ladder style" where you turn down or accept a series of heroines to get the ending you choose. No matter which you choose, you're going to have "encounters" with others. The adult patch is available on GOG, and it does work. There's a ton of H-scenes, and they are scattered throughout the "common" route and the individual routes. They kind of are important to the story, especially the first one you encounter (it establishes some info you'll need about Kotodama.) Most in the middle you can skip. So the hook of this VN is the Kotodama, the moral implications of using it, and the protagonist learning how to deal with a new world and the power he has. It's great to watch him grow as a person, though he still does some really dense things. In a nutshell, there are some really heavy and insightful concepts presented, and I really enjoyed that aspect. I'd definitely recommend this VN. You're looking at 25 hours for 1 playthrough, closer to 30-35 if you are a completionist and do all of the routes. The Hotaru route is where it's at. And that brings me to a couple sticking points. Finishing the game on Hotaru's route unlocks a "true" end, and honestly I liked the first ending better than the true end when I was playing. Also, you'll have a deep, insightful moment and then BAM! H-scene. *potential minor spoilers* After thinking about it a day or so, the "true" end is ok, but I felt like events were rushed, and the "harem" vibe at the very end just put me off a bit. Hotaru is enough by herself, 10/10 best girl.
Often touted as a classic "must read" horror VN, here it is in it's full glory. It's pretty short at around 6 hours tops, and it shows it's age a bit. It plays in 4:3, so expect black borders. The visuals are adequate, and can be disturbing (as is the whole game.) The soundtrack REALLY sets the mood, and is a big part of what carries the story. Is it scary? Well, more like disgusting and tense, with a slow burn atmosphere. You'll question yourself a bit at the end, and that personal psychoanalysis is up to you. No real jump scares. Over all, I feel like it was fairly well written. While there is a small amount of sexual content (some of which is non consensual, which is a big no no for me), to me it felt out of place. If that kind of thing isn't for you, consider the Steam version as it is censored. There's only a couple of routes, and I leave it up to you to decide which ending is the best. It's all in perspective, I guess. I'm going to give this a recommend, but only if you aren't in a bad place in your life.
