Since becoming a pirate is not viable anymore. This is probably the closest thing you'll get to experiencing the most romantic imagination of being a pirate you had as a child. The game is neither clever nor accurate nor has plot twists. It is a very straight forward scaling game. Improve your ship, higher a crew, safe your family, gain favor with the governor to get to his hot or not so hot daughter. The visuals are as engaging in 2025 as they were in the 16th century. Sadly non square Monitors were invented later and you only get access to a single aspect ratio. Which probably is not the one of your current monitor. But it is fine it works. If you like games with zero depth and maximum relaxation, this one is for you.
