World Rally Fever: Born on the Road

Skip it

Man, this game is frustrating as hell. No acceleration, so you always start last. Steereing is awful. Jumping would be OK, but it is broken (try wall in France to get what I'm talking about). Arcade racers should be fun. This game isn't. You cannot select a track, so the only way to play is championship. Some tracks are easy (I've won in Rio on my first go), some are very hard. Music is meh. Skip WRF and try some other racer. Don't pick Screamer though as it crashes. Speaking of arcade, when will GOG add Destruction Derby?

1849: Gold Edition

It's not a game, it's a joke

Stay away from this one, even if it's on a sale! This game isn't worth a dime. Here's how you win every scenario during the campaing: 1. demolish everything 2. mark as many places as you can as habitable. 3. place some food related buildings 4. maybe also some sheriff & fire dept. 5. choose the highest speed possible and go away 6. come back. you now have lots of money, can build all of the buildings necessary and win. See, people who come to your town will make a shack. If they can't find a job (no buildings, nothing!) they will leave, but first they will pay you a tax. And they will keep on coming, despite there being no jobs for them. They'll bring some food with them, and they will pay you tax. And so you will get richer every month, even when your town is just a warehouse with lots of the unemployed. The game is broken, my cat could win it. Also, there are silly mistakes in buildings description telling me 1849 was a hack job. There are many other stupid mechanics (like a mine costing you more in building cost / salaries / tools than you get from it) , but I won't list them 'cause time is too precious. Just don't buy this game. Get Caesar, Zeus, Pharaon or even old Sim City instead.

Reigns

Give it a miss

I was looking for a simple game that would help me unwind after a long day. I bought Reigns and it was a mistake. In this game you click left or right to make a decision. You are informed that your decision will influence some of the 4 stats. Let one of those 4 get to 0 or to 100 and you are dead. Problem is, some decisions influence the stats in the manner that is not logical. Army stat will decline despite you just did something that in real world would strenghten it etc. So in order to be successful in this game you have to remember which decision does what. And given the number of decisions, you have to keep notes - I choose to use good old pen and notepad. But I wouldn't call the game fun. It's more of a chore. It gets boring really fast too, as the decisions you are faced with keep repeating themselves. Also, sometimes you have to make decisions ASAP as one or more stat is constantly rising / falling due to a buff you got (you cannot decline it if you don't know what answer will give it to you). You can defend yourself against it if you memorized all of the answers, but if you happen to roam through catacombs during that time, you are more or less destined to die. So no, I wouldn't recommend Reings. Check the YT playthrough before buying if you are interested. And remember, it gets boring really fast. In 1h you will see everything the game has to offer.
