It only runs with the launcher from github ccomrade/c1-launcher/releases and then it doesnt even work with ultrawide monitors. Only in resolutions you never seen before. Not a good start. Playing it 10 minutes shows you how badly this game aged over the years.
In every other than the first episode the level design is really bad. Backtracking simulator level 99. Jumps to sections where just a key is and you cannot jump back? Wow. Quit game. At least the first episode is what it used to be.
I really like those games. But to the new content: Hexen: Vestiges of Grandeur I only can say that this Hexen episode is the backtracking simulator level 99+ Only enjoyable if you really like backtracking without any hints where to go or what to look for, in already cleared, now enemy-emptied levels with sometimes bad jump-and-run sections to die on. To me it felt as pleasurable as a dentist appointment to remove a deep nerve without anesthesia. So, if you want to enjoy this, stay away from "Hexen: Vestiges of Grandeur".
Legacy of Rust missing. And yes, also not in bethesda addons. Not really any way to download the wads and put them in gzdoom or any other port. So you are stuck with ... old doom with some better graphics and horizontal only mouse controls? In the end downloaded the ZIP file and extracted the contents from there. Why do I have to do that if I already installed via the gog launcher?
And after some time playing it I remembered why I played doom all the time instead of this game. The level design is very unimaginative, sometimes unfair (save often) and the rest of the game feels really bland in 2023. This game did not age as well as others. 19€ are also not enough for the differences to the free and available ROTT ports out there. System Shock revived the old game with the remake, This game carries the coffin for the series and makes you wish your money back. Sorry, just being honest.
