Close Combat: Gateway to Caen

Wasted potential

Whilst it holds up, and even excels in some fleeting moments, this close combat is ultimately in my opinion too sloppy to warrant the massive price. whilst I commend the attention given to a crucial yet often underrepresented operation, honestly there are so many oversights and issues within the game (very inconsistent attacking A.I. that cannot adequately compose its battlegroups, very limited battles considering the actual battles that occurred, awful armored combat and terrible enemy spawn locations that defy any reasonable logic) this game ultimately doesn't come close to justifying the price. I also think that the British infantry both playing with and against them were totally neutered in this game to the point of being nothing more than glorified scouts, however that is my opinion and something that I personally managed to amend modifying the text files provided in the game. Ultimately I am somewhat content with the purchase, but left with a lingering aftertaste of buyers remorse at such a steep price for such questionable quality
