Maybe resource management isn't my thing. I simply couldn't figure this game out. While I was able to turn a profit in my starting cart, my first storefront just continued to hemorrhage money, regardless of the approach I took. The story mode tutorial stopped working when I deviated back to my cart to bolster my funds, and the lack of direction left me scratching my head as to what I was supposed to do. I finally just gave up after hours of futility.
Can't play the game. When launching from the Gog dashboard the game prompts me to install the original CD. When I attempt to uninstall in hopes of reinstalling it tells me the game is not installed - Yet the Gog dashboard claims it is. Tried launching it from my desktop and it goes to a black screen then returns me to Windows.
Choppy frame rates make this game literally unplayable. For a game GOG is asking $25.00 I expected far better quality. Can't even play through the first episode because it simply freezes and lags too much, and the mouse cursor floats across the screen with such a terrible delay. Avoid this game at all costs.
I got hooked on the first Quest for Glory game - Entitled Hero's Quest in those days - by a friend who introduced me to the series. Our computer didn't have much hard drive space, so I was limited to playing it directly off of the floppy disks. For those of you who have never experienced this, what essentially happens is that you end up switching disks back and forth as you go from screen to screen. I didn't care though. I loved it! Unfortunately I never got the chance to play the other games in this series, and will now have my first opportunity to with this great buy from GOG. Ten bucks for all five games? Yes, please! That's a great value. What drew me in to the first game was the ability to choose one of three classes, and then play each game in a whole different way each time. You essentially got three games in one. Not only that, but overall the game was just a whole lot of fun - But then again, Sierra knew how to make adventure gaming, and pretty much knocked it out of the park every time. Classic adventure game fans should definitely nab this series.
