Dragon Age™: Origins - Ultimate Edition

Klasyka RPG

Manor Lords

I like it, but painfully unfinished yet

I like the idea, and game has a lot of promise, however at the moment about 50% of the upgrades, and 75% of policies are not even in the game. The combat is also a bit clunky, currently separated between extremely easy fights against bandits, and borderline impossible fights against enemy AI lord who has the luck of always having his forces spawn in one place, rather than like our mercenaries in random spots on the map. There's also a whole bunch of missing building descriptions, and unavailable options. Diplomacy is currently VERY ROUGH(We can barely do anything, and some text is obvious placeholder), although it does allow us to avoid having to battle enemy lord, so it's something(It seems like enemy always automatically agrees to stop trying to claim a territory if you contest it, which is good due to aforementioned issue with his army being almost unbeatable if you don't just have an army standing at all times in the area he wants to claim). Of the good things though, the graphics are really nice, and the village/town we built is really interesting to look at. I like the idea of building our own manor too(Though it's very rough at the moment). The overall realism with characters' looks, and mechanics is very cool, knowing that nowadays in game industry there are some really obnoxious people wanting to push certain agendas and downright lies even in historical setting like this... I am giving 4 stars because I see a lot of promise, but the game still needs a lot of work done.

Monster Prom 2: Monster Camp

Doubles down on worst parts of first one

If you are curious about the games, just get Monster Prom, gameplay is pretty much identical, and while sadly Slayer(The best character) is not one of the main romantic options, she still has a secret route(And doesn't have annoying tagalong curse character like in Monster Camp...). I wanted to like Monster Camp, but unfortunately, the obnoxious political virtue signalling that was starting to rear it's ugly head in the DLC for Monster Prom(Back there it only was truly obnoxious in one secret route luckily.), is back in full force here. It makes the game increasingly feel like it's made for perpetually offended Californians, and Twitter addicts, who just want to have their worldview validated, and everyone else preached to in all media they consume. The series had potential to be fun for everyone, but turned into a mutual admiration club for holders of certain political beliefs. Also the fact that GOG version didn't get the outfit DLCs for free for those who bought the game early(Like Steam version did) is just kind of scummy from the devs. Only reason I'm giving 2 instead of 1 star is due to Slayer having a bigger role... even if it was still mostly wasted due to adding the annoying curse character, or making certain extremely out of character random epilogue text about her from Monster Prom canon...

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen

No Japanese dub...

I like Dragon's Dogma but it's really unfortunate that we are stuck with english dub on PC... original Dark Arisen version on PS3 and Xbox 360 had the option of picking it, and it sounded far superior to the badly casted and played english dub...

Disco Elysium - The Final Cut

Great game, but... there are some bugs.

Really love how original the game feels thanks to having your "skills" constantly speak to you in dialogue after passing skill checks, as well as the overall story. Though the devs political leanings are very clear when you know about them(Communists are shown as flawed, but well-meaning, even absolute drug-smuggling commie scumbag like Evrart Claire was given redeeming qualities of helping some local people, compared to cartoonishly evil, racist, and sexist fascists, or cartoonishly greedy and poor-hating Ultraliberals, while centrists/moralists are seemingly most criticized of all ideologies given how they are "the establishment" and thoroughly corrupt, also game makes sure to say they killed more people quelling commie revolution than commies did themselves during it if you pay attention to what is said...), but they aren't obnoxious about it like 99% of "progressive" developers nowadays, so I'm willing to overlook that. What I can't overlook are the bugs which shouldn't be around anymore. I was unable to finish a sidequest due to a buoy I was supposed to find simply not appearing where it should be(I checked on line, it should be there, but it wasn't). Also with a simple trick in main menu when starting a new game, it is possible to gain infinite skill points... which apparently is a bug that is around for months already. Furthermore some voice lines play at wrong times and don't match the displayed text. Aside from that however, the game is a very fun and original RPG adventure. And the idea of playing an amnesiac drunken mess of a detective, makes for quite a lot of hilarious dialogue, despite the underlying themes of the story being rather depressing. Overall though, I recommend it.

Pine

It's not bad, but...

I like the idea for the game. But can't exactly be happy with the execution. First of all, despite some time passing from release, the game has constant graphical glitches with the plants on the ground appearing and disappearing from the view randomly, even when right next to it. Secondly and more importantly, the storyline is kind of bad, and far more linear than it would sound from the idea of having to balance relations with multiple tribes of beings. Furthermore, no matter who you side with in the quest just before the final boss battle, the chief of the tribe you sided with will still appear with others trying to stop you, even though he just helped you reach where you are(Talking like this to avoid any spoilers, even though storyline is nothing special). Thirdly, majority of the game feels like needless padding to make the storyline last longer. Having to look for resources can quickly get dull when you realize you are missing one moss to craft armor you want, but to get that moss you must walk to other end of the map, because you aren't allied with tribes that have villages in that area at the moment, so can't fast travel... and also you need to constantly forage and fight with limited inventory(even after first expansion of it) to get on the good side of the tribes, to craft, and to keep your stamina up. Also, there's no warning whatsoever that at one point all tribes will turn hostile, and until end of storyline you won't be able to buy armor and weapon idea plans from them, possibly leaving you stranded with sub-par gear, unless you check wiki to see where to find best gear on the map in chests. Also this is a nitpick, but why does sidequests tab(Called Island Stories I guess) even exists, if whole game has entirety of TWO SIDEQUESTS? XD
