Great hunting game. Better mechanics than Call of the Wild. Highly recommended. Would love to see new maps in the future, hand guns, and new animals as well like elephants, hippos, and rhinos. 10/10 Multiplayer is very fun just slightly buggy/unstable.
This is not an ant colony sim so don't expect to do anything with the actual queen's ant nest. It's a linear based story with very tedious repetive boring missions. Hopping across a flooded zone isn't fun, finding aphids in a dark map isn't fun, catching fire flies isn't fun, scouting out dark maps for enemy positions isn't fun, and the battles are very repetitive and boring. They even reuse the same maps a lot. I had high hopes for this game where I was imagining "empires of the undergrowth" but better graphics but this aint it. Not even close. "Empires of the undergrowth" is a far better game. This game also stripped features from the original empire of the ants game so don't expect a good sequel. I'm forcing myself to play this until I beat it because that's how boring it is. I got it as a gift for my birthday from a relative but now I regret asking for this. I gave into the hype when I should have waited to see reviews or real gameplay. I don't recommend this game to anyone if you wanted an ant colony sim. As for a strategy game it's barebones there is really no base building its the same generic copy pasted crap all over again. The unit variation sucks for the ant battles, the god powers make no sense for buffing, and I'd imagine the multiplayper aspect is very short lived where if you lose a battle it's already over. Who ever rushes tier 2 units first can easily win with the over powered beetles or who ever rushes the god powers first can win with op buffs on their units. Very poor game design. Whats even more sad is your ants get ZERO food from kililng insects. The only positive is the graphics/beauty in the game world but the game itself is lifeless, bare bones, and boring. I also don't appreciate seeing that my original review was deleted. Thanks for the censorship. And why does it say I'm not a verified owner if I bough the game? 1/5 stars.
Hell no. Just play Empires of the Undergrowth instead. This is not a good ant game or RTS. It's extremely bare bones, very basic, and boring. It starts off fun but then becomes very tedious and boring experience. It's not worth the current price. It should be $20 or less. It's extremely dumbed down which was clearly done for consoles. The combat, resource production, and base building is very basic with no depth to it. It's pathetic. Your ant legions are the same old same old. Most units don't even fight and the majority just stand and watch. Your main character/ant that you can control can't even fight. Most quests are extremely boring/tedious. I didn't think catching fire flies was fun, finding your lost ant sisters on a flooded map wasn't fun, and neither was jumping across an entire flooded map fun. There's missions where you literally do no combat or base building. I expected a lot more combat but there isn't. There's hardly any resources to collect on most map. Killing insects doesn't provide food. All there is is 2 resource production buildings in your nests for wood and food. That's it. Then it's a time sink where you have to wait for resources to be produced overtime so slowly In most maps enemies dont' even attack you and they're 100% passive. It's boring. There's no manual saves so be preparded to lose your progress like I did when I left a mission half way through. There's no option to change difficulty settings. It feels like you're playing on "easy mode" which is boring because there's no challenge what so ever. This game is a sad excuse for an ant game. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. If you want a good ant game then I recommend buying "Empires of the Undergrowth." I regret this purchase.
Hopefully, this game will convince SEGA to finally give us Medieval 3: Total War. I'm having a great time in this game. The city building mixed in with the medieval time period is fun. The game does need some balancing, bug fixes, more content, more enemies, but I'm sure we'll get that eventually since this is "Early Access." For an early access launch it's actually been very stable on me the entire time and I haven't encountered any bugs. I'm surprised it looks this good on my outdated Nvidia 1070 GPU. I just hope the dev keeps polishing the game and adding more content because it definitely has potential to become so much better. I'm surprised this actually was made by a lone developer. It puts AAA game studios to shame.
The gameplay starting off is good but the longer you stick with it the more tedious/boring the gameplay becomes. I regret this purchase. I don't think the game had enough content to justify the price $24.99. The fishing, the trading, the questing, the research, and basically every other mechanic in the game becomes tedious/repetive and a chore to do. The monsters in this game are unkillable. Being able to fight them would have made the game more interesting and bearable.
I'm loving this game's dark atmosphere, settlement building, storyline, and monster slaying. The only gripe I have with this game is that it's not difficult on Brutal difficulty. It's too easy. I don't understand why the devs thought it was a good idea to spam the entire map full of plants that can heal everything.
