Amerzone - The Explorer's Legacy - Deluxe Edition

Back in the beautiful Amerzone

I will start this review by congrulating the developers by making justice to the OG. This game is so beautiful and it was made with passion. It is better than the original. Loved every minute of it. Benoit Sokal is surely smiling somewhere from Heaven. He must be proud of the team. The story is almost the same as the OG but there are so many additions to the story that fit really really really well. The team expanded the lore and also they connected Amerzone directly with the Syberia games. The OG was a spiritual prequel of Syberia while the remake is we can say a direct prequel of the Syberia games. There are so many Syberia easter eggs in the game. The gameplay is simple, point and click. I am really glad they kept it "old school". I think it was a better choice than making the character moving freely. Everything feels so alive. While doing the main objectives, there are also some side quests which you can do which expand the story a little more. I had a lot of fun doing them. The game is very well optimised, I didn't have any issues, bugs etc. Everything went smoothly. The visuals are absolutely stunning, especially when you get in the wilderness. You lose yourself because of the beauty of the game. You just can't deny some of the views the game gives us. The soundtrack is lovely. I mean...Inon Zur is a maestro and alongside him there was his son, Ori Zur. Great job to both of them. I loved all the music. Again, congrats to everyone at Microids Studio Paris. They nailed it. You, guys, should be proud of your work. Here's to much more awesome games from all of you. I love all the goodies. The Valembois artwork is my new PC wallpaper

INDIKA: DELUXE EDITION

Hallelujah !

This game is a very fascinating piece of an art. Almost as if in parallel universe Nietzsche went for a beer with Monty Python guys and during the heavy drinking and brainstorming they'd decided to churn out this. Don't get fooled though, this game also manages to carry out some very strong moments. It really gets addictive with every minute you play it. The story is original. The developers took the Religion matter on a whole new level and I love it. It was a bold move. They took a risk and they delivered a fantastic game. The characters are well-written. The voice acting is top tier. I love the interactions between Indika and the Devil. His lines are funny as hell... See what I did there ? The puzzles/mini-games are inspired by the old arcade games we used to play a looong time ago. I saw that a lot of people weren't so happy about them. Me, personally, I liked them a lot. The soundtrack is brilliant. The music is a mix of drama and that specific arcade games music. I had a lot of fun with this game. I think the developers were on some good stuff while they were making it but the final product is GENIUS. A must-play for every gamer. Looking forward to seeing more games from the team.

SOMA

Spectacular. One of a kind

SOMA is that kind of game which will stick with you for the rest of your life. Why do I say that ? Let me tell you why : SOMA is an ambitious, cerebral and well crafted sci-fi horror-adventure with a story that buries a secret underwater, beneath the ocean. The first few minutes may seem kinda "hmm, I wonder where is all of this going ?" but after the SCAN (gonna use just that so I won't spoil anything), the fun begins. The game itself is complex and dark. The detailed world, the marvelous background design (visually it's amazing), the tension and oppressive atmosphere alongside the pulsating music, creepy and solid sound effects makes you stay on the edge of your seat during the whole playthrough. I was on alert mode the entire game especially during the encounters with certain enemies. The voice acting is top tier, chapeau bas to the actors behind the characters. The interaction between Simon and Cath felt so real. Also on a side note, as a gamer who likes to explore the lore of a game, I loved listening to all the recordings from all locations. The story is fantastic. The people behind the game used a very smart way of developing the story. Developing the story around the idea of consciousness and the brain is something else. A master stroke if you ask me. I will finish this review by saying only this : SOMA is not just a game. It's not just about the horror genre... it's beyond that. It's about the importance of consciousness and essence of humanity.

Alone in the Dark Digital Deluxe Edition

"Alone in the dark" comes back in style

Big fan of the original trilogy and I can happily say that the 2024 version is worth it. It may have some flaws here and there but it is AMAZING. The game FEELS like it should. While the 3rd person movement is not near as clunky as the original Alone in the Dark, there is a small level of jank that makes absolute sense. The story is awesome. All the areas from the game are well-detailed. The Voice acting with the notes and characters are well done. David Harbour and Jodie Comer did a fantastic job. The same goes for the other actors as well. While it is huge and different from the original, it stands on its own as what Alone in the Dark should be. The story driven atmosphere is even more so amazing now as it was years ago. As someone who likes to explore and get more of the side lore. I was very pleased and impressed. I found myself putting down the controller and letting the notes be read to me in cinematic flare. It's not Alone in the Dark A New Nightmare or the crap movie that was made as a cash grab / tax break. The Music - BREATHTAKING. I could gush on that opening menu theme forever. The game's sound is top notch. I'm glad we get the soundtrack with the deluxe version. The deluxe content that comes with this version is so cool. The OG skin is so hilarious to use in this game

The Beast Inside

Amazing scary story. The perfect recipe

What an absolute surprise this horror game turned out to be. As a horror game fanatic, I can tell you for certain that you'll find no better game that perfectly blends an amazing story with scary moments that will make you scream. I jumped out of my chair so many times I couldn't keep count. The jump scares are perfectly executed when you least expect them so I appreciate that a lot. So here are my thoughts overall: -Amazing story. Well thought out. Its no easy feat to blend two different character arches together and make them both interesting and keep you connected. I have to give special props to this indie studio for pulling off such a complex game that doesn't make me lose interest. -It's SCARY. The moments of horror you experience are so thought out and well executed. Like I said before... the jump scares are perfectly timed and happen when you least expect them. Just when you think you can have a break.. HERE COMES chase scenes and moments of dread and utter creepy ghosts that will just sit there and you have NO IDEA if they will do something. I can't say enough about it without spoiling too much. -The riddles were so much fun. They range from easy all the way to "WHAT DO I DO!?!?" which I love because I like being challenged. You will often find yourself going through your documents/files to search for clues and some of them come from the game surroundings -The graphics were impressive. I loved the attention to detail in the woods where your home is. I was walking around looking at the trees, water, and the house admiring the detail. Overall: impressive game from an indie studio that almost comes off like a AA title instead of a indie title. -Music and atmosphere were stellar. This is one of the most KEY elements to a game you have to achieve and it exceeded my expectations.

Tintin Reporter - Cigars of the Pharaoh

Tintin comics coming to life

I will start by saying that the game runs smoothly on PC. I haven't encountered any bugs so far. The controls are not perfect (sometimes the character's movement is weird when I move the mouse). The developers announced that the game may not be too polished on release date (thanks to gamers who put pressure for games to be released as fast as possible, be patient once in a while, people ! ) but they will bring patches as fast as possible and bring the game to how it's supposed to be. I am having a lot of fun, the visuals are great. The story is fascinating. The game is playable, immersive and so far it seems to be very close to the original comic. I am looking forward to go enjoy the whole adventure. I know it may not be the best review but at least I hope it helps all of you decide whether or not to get the game after the developer's announcement about the game status. Personally, I think the game is great so far and I am enjoying it. I am a Tintin fan and until now I am not disappointed.

The Invincible

An epic sci-fi adventure

If you don't mind slow paced walking sims and you also like hard SF, philosophical themes, and atompunk (retrofuture) aesthetics then you will most probably love this game. To be honest, it kinda reminded me of Firewatch (which is an awesome game too ). Great graphics, moody music and a fascinating storyline based on "The Invincible" book by famous Polish writer Stanisław Lem. Note: This not an adaptation of the book's plot - it's a separate story that takes time in the same timeline and location (planet Regis III). I'd recommend playing the game first and reading the book (or comic book) later. It's a great tribute to Stanislaw Lem. The developers nailed it, they delivered an awesome game. I fell in love with the game when I played the demo a few months ago. It was worth the wait. Sci-fi and Lem lovers, go get this game. You're in for a treat !
