Shadow Warrior 2

Playing with Wang

Though the game has multiple drawbacks, playing with Wang is still fun. Can't hold a candle to SW1 though. Pros: - Great visuals - Dynamic combat - Wang Cons: - Instantly forgetable plot and characters. Very B-movish stuff. A few hits and many misses. - The RPG elements form one giant clusterf***. Oh,let me count the ways... 1) Ton of enhancing gems dropping from monsters. You can then use those gems to craft better gems... The sheer amount of those is way over the top and takes away from the flow of the game. And you'll only need like 6 of them total anyway (3 for armor and 3 for the sword). 2) Skills have some clutter too. Would you rather spent skills points improving battle skills making Wang a better cargo mule ("carry more projectiles","carry more bullets","find more ammo") or giving him some other useless upgrade (two words, "Greedy collector") That's a hard one, right? 3) Elemental resistances/vulnerabilities on monsters form a pretty meaningless addition to the game. - Though the developers tried to go the Borderlands route with "replay game on higher difficulty for better loot" the game has approximately zero replayability. You'll be stuffed with "loot" by the end of your first (and last) walkthrough and same applies to useful skills. - Missions often reuse the same locations and side-missions are especially repititive (with a rare exception). Worst offender probably "The gang of Fire/Ice/Poison demons need to be killed". Pretty much same mission given multiple times with different resists (see above). - Vanish skill is pretty much gamebraking. After spending some points on mana regen you can easily get permanent "predator mode" (invisibility, that you only need to break to make stealth kills.),that opponents have no means of dealing with whatsoever. This makes the "replay on a higher difficulty" thing even more meaningless. Killing 50 junkies in a side-mission was never so easy. Still, thanks to GOG for the giveaway!
