Jedi Outcast, along with Jedi Academy, is one of the best ever Star Wars games ever produced. Created by Raven Software using the Quake III Arena engine, the graphics still hold up pretty well today. IMHO the lightsaber combat in these games has never been surpassed. You also have a multitude of force powers to help you overcome your enemies. Overall, a classic Star Wars game that no fan should miss out on.
Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb is a classic platforming and combat-oriented adventure game from 2003. The controls and camera can get take some getting used to, but this is a really solid Indy game with some memorable locations and enemies. We're back in 1935, so there are Nazis to bash as well as Asian underworld members well-versed in martial arts, so get ready for some hand-to-hand fights! Also a fantastic sound track that's perfect for the action. Definitely recommended!
This is a prequel to the first Call of Juarez, a Western-themed FPS game. The graphics look dated, but are improved over the first game in the series. I'd say it's up there with some of the best Western games, like the Red Dead series, for example. Choose to play one of the brothers, Ray or Thomas, each with their own unique set of abilities and weapons, as they search for the legendary Gold of Juarez. We're back in the Old West and it's a lot of fun, especially as they removed the annoying platforming!
Call of Juarez is a very good Western-themed FPS game. It's getting on a bit now, so the graphics definitely look dated, but if you can get past that you will have a good time. I'd say it's up there with some of the best Western games, like the Red Dead series, for example. You get to play as two different characters, which adds another dimension to the game - the fugitive Billy and his hunter the reverend Ray. All the aspects of the classic Western are here: gun flights, horse riding and some very well-done locations. I didn't enjoy the platforming, but apart from that would recommend.
Along with Baldur's Gate (BG) I, II, and Icewind Dale (IWD), Icewind Dale 2 (IWD2) is a D&D-inspired CRPG built with the Infinity Engine. IWD does not have the depth of characters and quests that BG does, as the focus is on combat and the tactics that you need to defeat your enemies. However, there is still an enjoyable story, and the world building is excellent. The music by Inon Zur is very beautiful and atmospheric. Definitely recommended!
Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway is a first-person tactical shooter set in WWII. It sets itself apart from other WWII games by providing the player with a unique tactical perspective. You command your squad as they fight their way through the villages and towns of the Netherlands against the German occupiers. Each of the men in your squad has a unique personality, and you have to make some tough decisions under pressure that can sometimes have tragic consequences for your brothers in arms. This makes you very invested in both the story and the men under your command.
The original campaign for Neverwinter Nights 2 is very lengthy and enjoyable, but Mask of the Betrayer is a real RPG classic! I haven't played Mysteries of Westgate or Storm of Zehir, but those campaigns are also included in this package, so all in all there are many hours of RPG goodness here.
Not as good as the original F.E.A.R., but still an enjoyable mixture of FPS action and horror. The AI of your adversaries is still daunting, but the overall difficulty of the game seems to have been reduced. You move between shootouts and scary sequences that still unnerve, but I don't think this is as scary as the original. Maybe if you've played through the first F.E.A.R. game, as I have, they don't have the impact that they once did. Anyway, a solid shooter and would still recommend.
I bought Wings of Prey with its Wings of Luftwaffe DLC a while ago now, and thought this was a great WWII flight simulator that didn't require a lot of effort to get up to speed with and had enjoyable missions. Joystick definitely recommended!
