Baldur's Gate is the only game I have played consistently every damn year ever since its release in November '98. It just has this spellbinding hold that doesn't seem to let go. BG II is superior in many ways, but for it didn't capture the freedom which BG1 allowed with its many inconsequential non-plot areas. Trying to survive with you 6hp mage in the beginning is a delicious bitch ;)
