Almost everything I disliked in AOW3 was fixed here. I tired almost every combination of race and secret tech, and while some combine better, I can't say that there is a combo that is useless, or doomed to fail. The combat itself is fun, with plenty of options for weapons, skills, buffs and debuffs (although the UI can do better describing what some of the things do outside of combat). Somw fights can take too long, but there is always the option to skip it with auto combat in cases you feel this is an easy win. Besides, you have amazons riding a T-rex! Maybe I should have started with this line, since how can you be anything bug great with this? :)
I played the game for about 20 hours. I like the graphics, the humor, the concept, and the style of the game matches what I usually enjoy. However, as the game progresses, I noticed that the time I spend moving from place to place excceds the time I actually get to DO stuff. Multiple trunks in different areas combined with limited inventory space force me to move constantly between places to what should be a simple task. As for the skill trees, while they look impressive, they offer very little real freedom of choice, since a tech might depend on other techs from a different tree. Not to mention that this might come as a surprise to you, since unlocking a tech might unlock a building, but you have to go to the spot where you can place it only to discover that you are missing a different tech to create the materials for the building you just unlocked. So... While I kind of enjoyed the game upto a point, I can't really say I recommend it.
