I just found out they ported the game to M1 Macs native; however, not too far in the game is a bug that crashes before you can continue to the giant bug thing. I tried a few times but crashed. Still, it was nice to relive a few minutes of an old classic. Hopefully, they will patch old bugs, or someone will mod a bug patcher.
To my surprise I found this here on GOG while browsing for anything that is not in my library already. Like others, I have this on Android, and certainly I could just play the Android version through Bluestacks but decided to pick up the GOG version to support the dev. Hopefully we will so some other games from the dev. Until then, I am going to enjoy a great one man rpg. Reminds me of Jeff from Spiderweb Software, also an independent dev that creates really great rpgs. Glad to see this one here.
I have this game and all of the expansions (11 expansions, 13 in total with The Quest, Fire and Ice), on Android. And they continue adding even more expansions! I also used to have this on an old iPod with the old classic version 10 years ago. They have since been updating all the graphics to HD which is really impressive. It will be really cool if they can add all the expansions to the GOG version as they have on Steam, iOS and Android. This is a must pick up for me.
I was really hesitant to purchase this game after a few really frustrating experiences with POE. I've always been a fan of the Diablo series minus the 3rd install. But Torchlight 1 &2, Titan Quest, Diablo 1 & 2 and if anyone remembers Dungeon Runners? Those were ARPGs that I sunk my teeth into back in the day up to even now. I have been watching LPs on the YT by a poster that goes by GhostLPs, if your into the old school RPGs that are based a lot upon grid based RPGs as well with a mixture of other old school somethings. The videos are short and sweet and fun to watch. Anyhow, I had been on the limb about picking up Grim Dawn until he suggest that if I liked playing Titan Quest, then I most likely would enjoy Grim Dawn and man was he spot on! My regret is, that while the most of the whole series was on sale the day before. I had just bought the game proper to see if I would like it or not. As I said before, POE has left a bad taste in my mouth. I have no doubt the series will go back on sale again in the future, but until that time. I will sludge on in my regrets and well my *hehe* tiny library of rpgs that would most likely take me 15 life times to complete :D
When it goes on sale. I bought this when it first released back in the day and never really could get it to work on my old system at the time. However, I know GOG does a decent job for the most part to fix bugs and make the older games playable on today's systems. It is on my list of have to have in my collection of ol' school. However, as many have stated already, the add on's and also having DB 2 as an option to purchase here will be an automatic purchase for me. Looking forward. 3 stars just to be safe. 6 stars if they bring us the add on's and DB 2 :D
I bought this game when it first came out on CD. Though at the time, I got only partially through, but either bugs or hardware issues prevented me from continuing the game. I am almost in shock to see all these old SSI games being brought back on GOG. I am like others, please if possible bring us the Dark Sun's and Ravenloft games.
I already really enjoy the service GOG offers, now making Fallout free!!! Thanks very much!!! "Runs off giggling" Great game if you haven't played it before.
