As I understand it, early buyers were disappointed. In my case, I only bought the game once it was available for macOS. It plays extremely well on my M4 Max system. It's beautiful. The story line is fairly good so far. It's a great way to spend some time.
While CTP and CTP2 were not made by Meier and friends, it's a solid entry that iterates on many of the mechanics of Civ2. Certain game mechanics are poorly implemented providing mild frustration, but the gameplay is solid none the less. In particular, I love the "future" elements of the game, and I love that wonders have more impact. If your a fan of 4X games, I recommend it.
