A story-driven RPG that revolves around the cardplaying elements of Gwent. The experience I had in my unfinished game was filled with game hangups (feezing, usually during a loading screen). I overlooked many of them (up until ~40 hours play time), in the hope that they would be rectified in a patch or later on in the game to no avail. These usually happened after a long and difficult battle, to which the game would not save and I was forced to do the battle again, so I turned down the difficulty to try to hurry through the story, but the persistence made the game too frustrating to finish, so I watched the rest on YouTube. The art of the cards is incredible, along with the sounds and music. Very well done and immersive, upholding the expectation of The Witcher universe. The cell-shaded style of the gameplay was also unique and fit very well, and the animations are fluid. The story is filled with tough moral choices and is presented in an excellent way. The RPG elements are on a large scale; manage your camp and army and upgrade your soldiers (cards) and their abilities to suit your playstyle. I played Gwent first and purchased this game after finding that I really enjoyed it, as well as the immersive and narrative world of The Witcher as a whole. I have played all of The Witcher games and read through most of the books in the series. It is unfortunate that I ran into this problem without an apparent fix, as many other players appear to as well. I was really enjoying this game and progressed ~75% through but could not tolerate the setbacks anymore. Had this problem been less frequent or fixed entirely, I would have rated this game 5/5. Seemingly more people are not experiencing this problem than others, but I recommend to wait for a sale in case you risk this experience as well. I would like to finish by saying that I really like CD PROJEKT RED and this game, and I want to support them fully, but I am not sure of the cause of this or how to fix.
