First the positives. If you liked Divinity Original Sin 1/2, then you will definitely like this game as well. It has similar mechanics, turn-based combat, nicely written origin characters, and a good story with a bit of humor. On the tactical difficulty you can get much satisfaction from combining different skills, spells, scrolls, items and whatnot to your advantage. However, if you played Baldur's Gate most of your childhood, you are nostalgic about it, and you hoped for another good story from Forgotten Realms, the game doesn't offer that.
I am a big Baldur's Gate series fan, so I had some doubts when starting to play Divinity, because of its turn-based fight model. I I couldn't be more wrong about it, turn-based fights are very comfortable to play, mechanics is really well developed. The game itself has excellent plot, very interesting and funny. I am going to try second part immediately. One thing I can complain about: the game loads so fast on my old laptop that I don't have the time to read the tips on the loading screen!
I am not really a huge fan of 3D 3rd person view (or 1st person view) games (I mostly play sth around BG, Neverwinter, Diablo), but this is really incredible. It feels like the authors combined their experience from Witcher 1&2 and developed the game that has all of: - amazing story, for me it was like reading the sequel to the original saga (I know it is a bit controversial topic) - branched plot: you can replay the game anytime, make different choices, and experience unique plot every time - great game mechanics: fighting a monster is not about how fast you click the mouse, you can really achieve interesting effects by combining sword attacks with Witcher signs and potions - good quality from the technical POV, runs smoothly on my average build PC, no significant bugs (and I bought it relatively early after the release) Highly recommended!
