It is not a fully faithful adaptation of the tabletop Battletech rules (see the amazing mods for that), but that's part of what makes it great. It is a true Battletech, Succession Wars-era story and really cool simulation. Between the regular game and mods, I have several hundred hours in this game (mostly on Steam, now I can run two different massive modpacks at once), and will get several hundred more, now that I am teaching my son to play.
