This is not Metroid, nor is it Dead Cells, and definitely not Hollow Knight. It's much easier than those, but it doesn't stop Crypt Custodian from being one of hidden gems of 2024, and a wonderful example of great design based on conscious choices. This game respects your time by not punishing dying, brings you to a lovely world, where you'll make some new, quirky friends, and let's you just relax. It's accessible, easy to pick up, but not as easy as to be boring. If you want a cute little metroidvania-style adventure, that will let you chill, but will be enough of a challenge (just enough not to become frustrating), this one's for you. I'm waiting for expansions! BTW, this year I played both Super Metroid and Hollow Knight for the first time, and I love all three equally, together with Crypt Custodian.
